Save Parent or Lover

It's one of the most disturbing questions a person could ask someone. The situation is given; You're on a boat with one of your parent (mom or dad) and your lover (girlfriend, boyfriend, husband, or wife.) when suddenly the boat starts sinking. Usually the one asking the question would state that the fact in this situation is that neither of your parent or lover could swim, and you're the only one who could save one of them. Just one. No loopholes. None of the additional life saving tools you wish were available. If you're closer to your dad, he's the one on the boat with you. If you're mom is dearer to you, then she would be the one that you'll be using as the parent. The sick question is: If you can only save one of them, who would it be?
